SALT LAKE CITY, Sep 24, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
Internet retailer Overstock.com(R) (Nasdaq: OSTK) today announced that it has added new cutting-edge search technology to its website, making it easier for customers to sort through the 350,000 products listed on Overstock.com.
The new search engine now powering Overstock.com was developed in collaboration with EasyAsk to address the unusual requirements of discount shoppers searching across hundreds of thousands of products with specific requirements in mind. Overstock.com customers may now more easily search by products, brands, price ranges, and other criteria, using complex phrases or natural-language queries, such as "find women's shirts between $50 and $100."
Once a search query is submitted, search results are presented to the customer within milliseconds, sorted by product category and relevancy. Shoppers can then drill down on search results to quickly find what they're looking for.
"We're always looking for ways to enhance our customers' shopping experience," said Patrick Byrne, president and CEO of Overstock.com. "I think our customers will find our new search capability to be quicker, easier and more intuitive to use, and they'll get much more relevant results. Our bargains will be that much easier to find."
